Ancient montane rainforest, dynamic chimpanzee tracking, and canopy walkways.
Covering over 1,000 square kilometers in southwestern Rwanda, Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of Africa’s oldest and best-preserved montane rainforests. A biodiversity hotspot of global significance, the forest is alive with towering mahogany trees, cascading waterfalls, and ancient ferns.
Nyungwe is home to 13 primate species, including habituated chimpanzee communities and large troops of Angolan colobus monkeys. Treks begin early in the morning, following vocal calls through the misty canopy for energetic, dynamic chimpanzee encounters.
